Florian Benfer är konstnärlig ledare för både Gustaf Sjökvists Kammarkör och Philharmonischer Chor Berlin. 2020 tillträdde han som lektor i och director musices på Musikhögskolan vid Örebro universitet. År 2024 inledde han en treårig period som konstnärlig ledare för Sveriges Ungdomskör.
Förutom sitt nära samarbete med Eric Ericsons kammarkör har Florian arbetat med många ensembler i Europa, däribland RIAS Kammerchor Berlin, Cappella Amsterdam, Bayerska radions kör i München och SWR Vokalensemble.
Florian erhöll sin musikaliska utbildning i Leipzig, Stockholm och Haag, där han studerade kyrkomusik, orgel, kör- och orkesterdirigering. År 2016 fick Florian Johannes Norrby-medaljen, som utdelas i samråd med Musikaliska Akademien till en ”svensk kördirigent som på ett framstående sätt främjat landets körliv och utvecklat körsången till bestående konstupplevelser”.

Florian Benfer is a conductor, singer, and organist whose work is characterized by versatility and a profound curiosity for music of all periods and styles. He serves as Artistic Director of the renowned Gustaf Sjökvists Kammarkör in Stockholm and, since 2025, of the Philharmonischer Chor Berlin. With the ARTON Ensemble, which he founded, he focuses primarily on vocal music of the 20th and 21st centuries. He received his musical education in Leipzig, Stockholm, and The Hague.
Deeply rooted in the Scandinavian a cappella tradition, he collaborates closely with the Eric Ericson Chamber Choir and appears regularly as guest conductor with leading European ensembles and festivals, including Cappella Amsterdam, the Bavarian Radio Choir, and the Swedish Radio Choir.
In addition to his artistic work, Benfer is passionately committed to choral conducting education and the development of young singers. He teaches at the School of Music in Örebro and has directed the Swedish Youth Choir since 2024. In recognition of his contributions to Swedish choral music, he was awarded the Johannes Norrby Medal in 2016.

Florian Benfer ist Dirigent, Sänger und Organist – geprägt von Vielseitigkeit und einer ausgeprägten Neugier für Musik aller Epochen und Stilrichtungen. Er ist künstlerischer Leiter des renommierten Gustaf Sjökvists Kammarkör in Stockholm und seit 2025 in gleicher Funktion des Philharmonischen Chores Berlin. Mit dem von ihm gegründeten ARTON Ensemble widmet er sich vor allem der Vokalmusik des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts. Seine Ausbildung erhielt er in Leipzig, Stockholm und Den Haag.
Tief verwurzelt in der skandinavischen A-cappella-Tradition arbeitet er eng mit dem Eric Ericsons Kammerchor zusammen und gastiert regelmäßig bei führenden europäischen Ensembles und Festivals, darunter Cappella Amsterdam, Chor des Bayerischen Rundfunks und der Schwedische Rundfunkchor.
Neben seiner künstlerischen Tätigkeit engagiert er sich leidenschaftlich in der Chorleitungsausbildung sowie der Förderung junger Sängerinnen und Sänger. Er unterrichtet an der Musikhochschule Örebro und leitet seit 2024 den Schwedischen Jugendchor. Für seine Verdienste um die schwedische Chormusik erhielt er 2016 die Johannes-Norrby-Medaille.
